FME - Spatial Data Processing FME (Feature
Manipulation Engine) is the most
luxurious Swiss Knife for the GIS User. Using this
tool you not only can translate data from one format
to the other, you can as well cut, saw, sew, enlarge; and
even pull corks ... A Canadian user once said: ‘I once
put in a Pizza and a Lasagne came out ...’. In
GIS-Terminology this means: Transformation (Projection,
Helmert, Affine, Rotation, Offset etc.), Topology
Creation, Generalization, Overlays, Clipping, Table Joins
... and a lot more. The power of FME Functions and Factories
is unreached. And using the new FME Workbench
it's now a piece of cake to apply spatial data
processing functions. In
addition, if you do not know the data you want to process,
just have a look and query it using the FME Viewer.
Furthermore, if you'd like to distribute your data in the
Intranet or Internet definitely have a look at
Neapoljs Mercato using FME Server.
In other words: FME is not just a
translator. It is the most powerful spatial data
processing tool that supports an extensive and ever
growing list of formats.

The FME workbench offers a graphical interface for
accessing FME Functionality. With it, you will easily be
able to:
- Visualize and analyze the data structure of the source
data
- Map or link feature types and attributes from source data
sets to destination data sets.
- Connect feature types through FME functions to process
individual feature geometries and attributes.
- Connect feature types through FME factories to process
groups of features.
- Automatically translate between all the formats FME
supports, including Oracle 8i Spatial and SDE.
- Generate lookup tables, SDE/SQL queries, and complex
relational tables.

Neapoljs is the leading WebGIS System in Switzerland.
FME is the leading GIS data translation software worldwide.
What was more obvious for us to marry the two systems? Finally we did it
and Neapoljs Mercato was born! Highlights:
-
Based on Neapoljs, which means that ESRI
ArcIMS, MapInfo Mapxtreme or UMN MapServer can be used as the Web
Mapping Engine.
-
Based on FME Server, means up to 150
formats are supported as source and as target. All translation
processes can be configured using the FME Workbench.
-
Based on Drupal, an Open Source CMS and Shop
solution
-
All functionality of Neapoljs Mercato can be
configured over a Web Front End.
If you use PostgreSQL/PostGIS as a database, everything can be
held in-there: Neapoljs, Drupal and
Geo-Data.
More Information:
A first Example of Neapoljs Mercato you will find
on
mercato.mapserver.ch: To test
it anonymously use demo/demo as uid and password.
If you want to test the full
functionality such as registration, e-mail notifications you have to register.
Be aware that all pricing of
data inside the application is fake and for demo purpose only (you will
not receive an invoice!). |
